I have known Janessa for a long time, so for us to shoot something together was inevitable. It took us years to get to this point and I knew the exact set of shots I wanted. With the upcoming RAW showcase on the books there was a very succinct image that was in my head that I wanted to get printed. Janessa helped make it possible.
Whenever I plan an outdoor shoot, the weather throws something unexpected at me. This particular morning was no different. The early Spring Saturday had blessed with an overnight rain. While a chill was definitely in the air, everything worked out for the better. The consistently wet stones and slight overcast provided a mood and texture that I wasn’t expecting, but that the images ultimately needed.
Every movement by mankind seems to work either in reaction to, or an attempt to control, our natural world. When we purchased our home a few years ago the realtor told us that “water always finds a way in, no matter what.” And once that happens the mold sets in, then the rot – all a part of the progress of breaking our home back down to the natural elements that initially composed it. More or less, we are completely beholden to the natural world.
