Free will – the capacity to choose between different courses of action. Your choice in this moment, right now, can change your outcome. There is no prophecy, your life is not guided. You get to pick.
I wanted this node in here because it comes up a lot in the studies of Benjamin Libet – the experiments that suggested every action was derived by the subconscious. “Phenomenal Will” they call it, because who doesn’t like misspelling “phenomenal” every damn time they try to type it?
Carl Jung’s famous quote “Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will rule your life and you will call it fate.” Sort of ties to Libet’s experiments. You only think you have control, free will.
Active Idea of the Moment: Your brain lives in the meat suit. Your consciousness is the interface that translates the unconscious desires as “free will.”
