You probably won’t own the means of production, but it doesn’t hurt to have a decent toolkit on hand.
We are in an age of repair instead of replace.
Tools are anything that allow you to extend the ability of your brain/ hand connection. The mechanical advantage of human capability.
- wrenches provide more torque than fingers.
- hammers deliver more force than a fist, despite what Kung Fu movies may tell us.
Code is just as valuable of a tool as a saw or a soldering iron.
Tool kits worth keeping (communal or individual)
- socket set – metric and standard
- screwdriver set, phillips and flathead. Star and square patterns if you get more into automotive or electronic repair
- A decent battery-powered drill/ driver
- Hammer, 16 oz.
- outlet tester
Tools you should be able to get within an hour’s notice (from your neighbor?)
- stepladder
- saw – manual, power, chain. Stick with what you’re comfortable with
- Shovels
